Women in Policing: Meeting the Challenges of Leadership, taught by Dr. Karin Montejo, recently retired Chief of the Miami-Dade Police Department, is a course that prepares women in today's law enforcment field for the practical and challenging aspects of assuming a command role within their department and in the field of  law enforcement.
This course will increase the knowledge, skills and confidence of participants who aspire to move up the ranks within their own department and in the field of law enforcment.  It is a three-day course that utilizes current case studies, lectures and discussion groups as a platform to enhance the female officer's role in today's law enforcement.

*************************
This course is intended for women in law enforcement of any rank. Dr. Montejo brings the perspective of a female supervisor in a male dominated law enforcement environment: however, the techniques taught are valuable tools for supervisors in any circumstance.

Brookline Police hosted this seminar in October 2008 and April 2009. The participants of these seminars highly recommended the course with praise for not only the material covered in the seminar but for Dr. Montejo's experience, knowledge and teaching skill. All found the course to beneficial for their future roles in law enforcement and recommended the course for other women in law enforcement who aspire to rise in rank or increase their area of responsibility.
